Sputnik Energy — formerly known as Franto Energy — was founded in 2008, at the height of South Africa’s energy crisis, with a clear mission: investigate and deliver the most cutting-edge energy-saving solutions available, and help South African homes and businesses build a more energy-secure future.
What began as a dedicated LED lighting efficiency specialist has grown into a full-service electrical contractor and independent energy consultancy — one of the few in South Africa combining hands-on technical installation with objective, independent energy consulting and nationwide implementation. Today that means new electrical installations, solar and backup power systems, EV charger installs and full site electrical infrastructure, alongside the energy-efficiency work the company was built on.
We work on everything from single residential jobs to full ground-up commercial construction — we're the preferred electrical contractor for Ultra Liquors, with work completed across multiple of their retail sites.

Our day-to-day is concentrated in Gauteng, where we’re based in Germiston.
